What Is a Car Rear Window LED Display?
A car rear window LED display, also called a transparent car window LED display, is a transparent LED screen installed inside the rear glass of a taxi or commercial vehicle. This type of vehicle rear window LED display faces outward to show digital ads, images, and messages to traffic behind the vehicle while keeping part of the rear view open for the driver.
Unlike small programmable car LED signs, commercial rear window LED displays are made for daily advertising and fleet operation. SWXLED offers P2.6-5.2 and P3.9-7.8 models for taxi advertising operators, taxi and ride-hailing fleets, LED distributors, and system integrators that need remote content control across one vehicle or a larger fleet.
Choose the Right Pixel Pitch for Your Car Display

P2.6–5.2 Car Rear Window LED Display
Choose P2.6–5.2 for closer traffic and more detail. It gives you better clarity for phone numbers, short ad copy, logos, and smaller text.
Best for: City taxis, ride-share fleets, close traffic viewing.

P3.9–7.8 Car Rear Window LED Display
Choose P3.9–7.8 for longer viewing distances and larger content. It works well for larger text, logos, short messages, and simple advertising graphics.
Best for: Fleet advertising, longer viewing distance, simple promotional content.
Put Your Advertising Where the Traffic Is
Taxi AdvertisingIf you run taxi advertising, a taxi rear window LED display gives you digital media space on vehicles already moving through the city. Use it for local brands, retail promotions, and city campaigns without changing the taxi’s normal route.
Ride-Hailing FleetsTurn vehicles already working across the city into advertising inventory. This fits ride-hailing fleet partners that want to add media value to daily routes as the number of participating cars grows.
Mobile DOOH NetworksAdd mobile DOOH vehicle displays to your existing outdoor advertising network. You can extend campaigns beyond fixed billboard locations and reach different roads, districts, and traffic areas during normal fleet operation.
Commercial Vehicle FleetsYour delivery vans, service vehicles, or company cars are already on the road every day. A rear-window vehicle advertising LED display lets you run company branding, recruitment messages, promotions, or local campaigns while the fleet continues its normal work.
Brand Advertising CampaignsUse car rear window LED displays for product launches, seasonal promotions, local events, and short-term campaigns when you want the advertising to move through the city instead of staying in one fixed location.
Local Business PromotionIf you already own the vehicle, the rear window can become another place to promote your business. Restaurants, real estate companies, shops, and local service businesses can advertise along the routes they already drive.
Built for Real Taxi & Fleet Advertising
Use the rear window for advertising without covering it with a solid LED panel.
The display is configured for advertising that needs to remain visible through vehicle glass in daytime traffic.
Publish new content through 4G or Wi-Fi from a phone or computer. You can change a campaign remotely instead of updating each vehicle on site.
Manage individual displays or group vehicles for different campaigns. Optional GPS adds vehicle positioning and fleet tracking for operators managing screens across different routes or areas.
The display runs from the vehicle power system. For fleet projects, SWXLED confirms the power configuration with the vehicle type before production instead of treating it like a standard indoor LED installation.
A rear-window display has to handle vibration, temperature changes, and long hours on the road. SWXLED has tested this product under long-term vibration, temperature, and road conditions, with the mounting structure, cables, frame, and internal connections checked for vehicle use.
See the Ad Outside. Keep the Rear View Open Inside.
A rear-window display has to balance two things: enough transparency for the driver and enough brightness for advertising outside. SWXLED uses 70%+ transparency and 5,000+ nits brightness for this specific installation.
70%+ Transparency for Rear Visibility
Higher transparency is not always better. More open space improves the view through the screen, but it can also reduce pixel density and image detail. For a high-transparency car rear window LED display, the goal is to keep enough rear visibility without giving up the advertising effect.
5,000+ nits for Daytime Traffic
Rear glass, window tint, sunlight, reflection, and viewing angle all reduce the brightness seen outside. More brightness is not automatically better either, especially for night operation. The actual glass condition matters as much as the number on the specification sheet.
Check the Glass Before Production
If your fleet uses dark factory tint or aftermarket film, send SWXLED the vehicle model, a rear-window photo, and the tint information if available. We check the actual window condition before confirming the display configuration.

Manage One Screen or an Entire Fleet
SWXLED CMS lets you manage one 4G-connected car rear window LED display, selected vehicle groups, or an entire advertising fleet from one platform.
Upload Content → CMS Platform → 4G / Wi-Fi → Vehicle Displays
Control by Vehicle or Group
Send different campaigns to individual cars, routes, fleets, or advertiser groups without updating each screen on site.
Schedule and Track Campaigns
Set ads by date and time, use GPS for vehicle or area management, and check playback logs from the CMS.
Keep Ads Playing Offline
Content is stored locally. If a vehicle temporarily loses its 4G connection, the current program continues playing.
Match the 4G Setup to Your Country
SIM cards, carriers, and LTE bands vary by market. Tell SWXLED the destination country and carrier before ordering, and we will confirm the network configuration for your fleet.
Will It Fit Your Vehicle?
Rear windows vary by vehicle model. Window size, glass angle, interior clearance, and mounting space can all affect the screen fit. If you need a custom car rear window LED display, you do not need to guess the right size yourself.
Send Us Your Vehicle Information
Please provide:
Vehicle Make & Model
Rear Window Width & Height
Rear Window Photo
Number of Vehicles
SWXLED will check the usable rear-window area and confirm the screen size, installation position, and mounting setup before production.
Mixed Fleet? Send Each Vehicle Model
If your taxi or advertising fleet uses different vehicle models, we can match the configuration by model instead of forcing one screen size onto every vehicle.

Built for Vehicle Power and Daily Road Use
A DC 12–24V car rear window LED display runs from the vehicle power system, not a fixed indoor supply. SWXLED checks both the power setup and road-use conditions before you move the screen into fleet operation.
Vehicle Power
Supports DC 12–24V. We confirm the input voltage and connection method for your vehicle before production.
Power Consumption
Average Power: 30–60W
Maximum Power: 90–140W
If you are running dozens of displays across a fleet, these numbers matter more than a simple “low power” claim.
Vibration Tested
SWXLED has tested this display under long-term vibration and road-use conditions. The frame, cables, connectors, and internal assembly are checked for daily vehicle movement.
Temperature Tested
The rear-window area can heat up while the vehicle is parked in the sun and cool down again during daily operation. SWXLED tests the display under temperature changes for vehicle use.
Project Tip: Send us the vehicle model and power information before ordering. We will confirm the power configuration before you move to a fleet rollout.
From Content Upload to Fleet Launch
Upload your advertising content to the SWXLED CMS and choose which vehicles should receive it. The screens connect through 4G or Wi-Fi, while GPS information can be sent back to the CMS for vehicle location and fleet management.
Content Delivery
Advertiser / Operator → SWXLED CMS → 4G / Wi-Fi → Selected Vehicles / Vehicle Groups → Rear Window LED Displays
GPS Location
Vehicle GPS → SWXLED CMS
01. Upload
Add images, videos, and advertising content to the SWXLED CMS.
02. Select Vehicles
Choose one display, selected vehicle groups, or the entire fleet.
03. Schedule & Publish
Set the playback time and send the campaign through 4G or Wi-Fi.
04. Display
Each screen receives and plays its assigned content. Stored programs continue playing if the network is temporarily unavailable.
For larger fleets: Set up vehicle groups in the CMS first. It makes it easier to send different ads to different routes, advertisers, or groups of vehicles later.
Install and test the first car rear window LED display on one vehicle before moving to the rest of the fleet. Check the screen position, bracket, cable route, power, network, and content playback on the actual vehicle.
01. Check the Vehicle
Confirm the rear-window position, mounting space, and screen placement.
02. Install the Screen
Fix the bracket and screen in the confirmed position.
03. Connect Power
Route the cable and connect the display to the vehicle power source.
04. Connect the Network
Connect 4G or Wi-Fi and add the screen to the SWXLED CMS.
05. Test the Display

Fleet Deployment
Sample → Pilot Fleet → Batch Production → Fleet Installation → Launch
If your fleet uses the same vehicle model, you can use the same screen size, bracket position, and cable route on the other cars. If you have different vehicle models, check each model first before you place the batch order.

Real Car Window LED Display Projects
See how SWXLED car rear window LED displays are being used in real taxi, food truck, and commercial fleet projects.

Used for local restaurant advertising across the fleet. The operator recovered the hardware cost in about four months from ad revenue.

Used for menus and daily promotions. The fleet operated through a full Texas summer with no reported battery-related failures.

Different vehicle groups run different recruitment and route campaigns. Content changes automatically without driver operation.

Choose Rear Window LED When
You want to use the existing rear-window area, keep the display inside the vehicle, and mainly target traffic following behind.
Choose Taxi Top LED When
You need advertising visible from more directions, and your fleet can accept a roof-mounted display.
It can if the screen keeps using power for a long time after the engine is turned off. SWXLED car rear window LED displays use DC 12–24V, with 30–60W average power and 90–140W maximum power.
If some vehicles in your fleet are parked for long periods, send us the vehicle model, electrical system, and usual parking time before ordering. We will check the power connection for your vehicle instead of telling you that battery drain will never happen.
Our 4G module supports B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B20, and B28. We have used these modules in 30+ countries, including markets in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Before you order, send us your country and mobile carrier. We will check whether your carrier uses one of these LTE bands and set the APN before shipment if needed.
So far, connectivity-related returns are below 0.5%. If your carrier uses a different LTE band, we will tell you before you place the order.
Yes. One SWXLED CMS account can manage 100, 200, or more car displays. You can group screens by vehicle, route, or advertiser, then publish content to one screen, selected groups, or the whole fleet.
In our Manila taxi project, 120 screens are managed through one CMS. For fleets above 500 screens, SWXLED can set up a dedicated server for the account, with refresh times kept under 10 seconds.
Yes. New screens can be added to the same SWXLED CMS account. Scan the QR code on the new screen. It usually takes less than one minute to add it.
One customer bought 10 units first. Three months later, the same customer bought 90 more. They used the same login and the same vehicle groups. The first 10 screens kept working while the new screens were added.
If you order a large number of extra screens, tell us the quantity before shipment. We can set the new screens to the same vehicle groups as the existing ones.
Yes. Suction cups or magnetic brackets can be removed in minutes without leaving marks. We have had taxi operators move screens from retired cars to replacement vehicles during fleet turnover.
Before reinstalling, send SWXLED the new vehicle model and a rear-window photo. We will check the glass size and mounting fit before you move the screen.
For a fleet order, you do not need to stock large quantities of every part. SWXLED normally recommends 1 extra mounting kit for every 10 screens and 1 spare LED module for every 20 screens.
Our 120-car Manila taxi project followed this ratio and used less than half of the spare stock during the first year. For fleets working in hot climates, we also recommend keeping extra suction cups because long-term heat can shorten their service life.
LED modules, mounting parts, power cables, and control parts can be replaced separately, so one failed part does not mean returning the complete screen to China.
Car rear window LED display prices mainly depend on screen size, pixel pitch, 4G/GPS setup, mounting parts, order quantity, and customization. At the same screen size, P2.6–5.2 normally costs more than P3.9–7.8 because it uses a higher LED density.
You do not need the finest pitch for every project. Tell SWXLED your vehicle model, viewing distance, screen size, quantity, and control requirements. We will quote the lowest-cost configuration that still fits the way your advertising will actually be seen and managed.
A transparent car rear window LED display leaves part of the glass open, so you can still see through the rear window while the screen is running. SWXLED models provide 70%+ transparency, making this type of transparent vehicle window LED display better suited to taxis and fleet vehicles where rear visibility still matters.
A traditional solid LED panel can give you higher pixel density, but it also blocks the view through the glass. If you need advertising on the rear window without turning it into a solid panel, choose the transparent type. If rear visibility is not important and image density matters more, a solid display may fit better.
Vehicle advertising and rear-window rules vary by country and city. Before a fleet deployment, check the local rules for rear-window visibility, digital advertising, and vehicle modifications.
